Woven In Christ

I’m Not Enough, I Don’t Matter, Nobody Cares Anyway…

Have you ever heard those words? Yeah, me too! More often than I’d like to admit. I have a beautiful support system, but I still feel this way! Why? Because I hear this in my own thoughts. The word tells us; As a man thinketh, so is he. -Proverbs 23:7

I struggle with the feeling of being “less than” and I feel like there are many other women like me. We know we have gifts. We know the Lord has called us. And we even know what The Word says…we still struggle. I believe this is a constant battle because we tend to equate our status and roles with who we are. Scripture tells us who we are; not our roles as mom, wife, sister, friend, pastor, or any other hat we might wear. When we fall short in these areas, it changes our self-perception. Yes! Those things are important and matter, but they are not our identity. Our true identity is in Christ! When we truly learn that and live it…we’ll see a shift in the other areas of our lives. Will there still be bumps in the road-absolutely! Will we still doubt sometimes-you better believe it! The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy! If he can just plant a little seed of doubt (from family members, church members, our own thoughts) then before you know it WE start to believe it and begin to water that thing. Next thing you know there is a root and it takes us back to I’m not enough.

Satan is always going to plant a seed, we determine what we do with it! Scripture tells us in Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. We could stop a lot of our own issues if we learn who God says we are and take captive any thought or planted seed that contradicts His word! Even Jesus’ identity was challenged in the desert, but He was able to combat it with The Word!

I want you to notice that I’m saying WE! I am looking in the mirror as I type this. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of being on the enemy’s hamster wheel and allowing his lies to determine what I feel about me. Because I am God’s, what does He say about me?!?

I am safe in Him (Psalms 91)

I am victorious (1 Corinthians 15:57)

I am not condemned (Romans 8:1)

I am accepted (Romans 15:7)

I am not alone (Isaiah 41:10)

I am chosen and special to Him (1 Peter 2:9)

I am wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)

I am loved (John 15:12)

I am complete (Colossians 2:10)

I am saved (2 Timothy 1:9)

I am chosen (1 Thessalonians 1:4)

I am forgiven (Ephesians 1:7-8)

I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I am a child of God (1 John 3:1)

I am free from sin (Romans 6:22)

I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)

So, while it’s true that without Him, I’m not enough…once I made the decision to surrender to Him-my identity changed! Let’s quit watering the seeds the enemy plants. Hold me accountable and I’ll do the same for you!

Blessings,

A great devotion! We all struggle with trying to find our identity and who we are in Christ. We’re human but you’re right we can’t keep watering the seeds the enemy has planted! It’ll cause destruction in our own lives and affect everyone around us.
